With an aim to reach out to a large number of smartphone users, the new mAadhaar has been issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India. The app has a range of Aadhaar services and a personal section for the Aadhaar holder to carry his/her Aadhaar information in the form of a soft copy instead of carrying a physical copy at this all times.
Key Features of M-Aadhaar:
Multilingual: To ensure that Aadhaar services are accessible to linguistically diverse residents of India, menus, button labels and form fields will be available in English as well as in 12 Indian languages (Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam ) are provided. this Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu). After installation, the user will be prompted to select any preferred language. However, input fields in forms will only accept data entered in the English language. This is done to help the user avoid facing the challenges of typing in regional languages (due to limitations in mobile keyboards).
Universality: Residents with or without Aadhaar can install this app on their smart phones. However to avail individual Aadhaar services the resident will have to register his/her Aadhaar profile in the app.
Aadhaar Online Services on Mobile: mAadhaar user can avail featured services for himself as well a for any other resident seeking Aadhaar or related assistance. The functionalities are broadly grouped as follows
o Key Services Dashboard: Direct Access to this Download Aadhaar, Order a Reprint, Address Update, Download Offline eKYC, Show or Scan QR Code, Verify Aadhaar, Verify Mail/Email, Retrieve UID/EID, Address request for verification letter
o Request Status Services: To help the resident to check the status of various online requests
o My Aadhaar: This is a personal section for the Aadhaar holder where the resident will not be required to enter his/her Aadhaar number to avail Aadhaar services. Apart from this, this section also provides facility to the resident to lock/unlock his/her Aadhaar or Biometric authentication.
Aadhaar Locking – Aadhaar holder can lock his/her UID/Aadhaar number at any time.
Biometric Locking/Unlocking secures the biometric authentication by locking the biometrics data. Once the resident enables the biometric locking system, their biometric remains locked until the Aadhaar holder chooses to either unlock it (which is temporary) or disable the locking system.
TOTP Generation thisTime-Based One Time Password is an automatically generated temporary password that can be used instead of SMS based OTP.
Update of Profile – For update view of Aadhaar profile data after successful completion of update request.

Sharing of QR code and eKYC data by Aadhaar number holder helps Aadhaar users to share their password-protected eKYC or QR code for secure and paperless verification.
Multi-Profiles: Aadhaar holders can add multiple (up to 3) profiles (with the same registered mobile number) in their Profile section.
Aadhaar services over SMS ensure that Aadhaar holders can avail Aadhaar services even when there is no network. SMS permission is required for this.
